Moms and Babies

Here are some of my favourite ewes with their babies.

Great Plains Jemma, a lovely and very friendly ewe from Carol Arthur's farm in Alberta gave us two ewe lambs ... the pea sisters ... Willow Garden Snow & Willow Garden Snap. The sire is Whistlestop Lerwick, an F1 white ram leased from Orysia in PEI. Also lying with Jemma is her adopted baby, Willow Garden Okra, who was either orphaned or ran away ... not sure which it was ... but ... she ended up needing a Mom and Jemma took her in. All three ewe lambs are being suplemented with two bottles a day, so they are VERY tame ... ;-)

Great Plains Kilda, an F1 Lighning ewe, is also from Carol Arthur's breeding. She was bred to Willow Garden Duke Ellington (emsket, smirslet, very crimpy ram) and gave us twin ewe lammbs ... Willow Garden Fuji (grey) & Willow Garden Gala (emsket). These are lovely ewe lambs and sure make me smile when I see them.

Dailley Kate, our 13 year old ewe from our original flock, bred to Willow Garden Duke Ellington, had a bouncing baby boy, Willow Garden Box Car Willie (a variety of heirloom tomato). Kate has some limitation with her vision and seems to have had a minor stroke, so this little guy will be her last lamb. According to my calculaions, this is her 23rd lamb, so she deserves a break. We'll likely be keeping this guy, either as a ram, but more likely as a wether, although, he may be offered for sale as a breeding ram. He is mioget, smirslet and sokket.
