I now post on ...
billstearman.com
This site remains and mostly documents my life as a farmer. I now identify as a quilt maker.
... ... Here, in my own quiet little space on the web ... I'll share my sheepish thoughts ... and some of my quilts ... with the world ... or at least with anyone who is interested ... :-)
Well ... twice a year I am overcome with 'the urge' ... and I get a call saying ... 'they are here and ready' ... and off I go ... to pick up chicks!
You'd think at MY age that I'd be through with that ... but no ... twice a year ... the urge overtakes ... and I clean up the 'Chick-Mobile' ... and off I go!
The picture above is taken into the interior of the 'Chick-Mobile'.
I always love it when I get a new batch of chicks. There's something about them that makes you believe in "life goes on" and a rebirth each spring. I try to remind myself of that as I clean out the stinking part of the barn where the chickens hang out! :) When I sit in the pasture with the sheep, Nosey Josie (one of my champion speckled Sussex) always must sit on my lap and tell me about all the goings on. A very wise bird, she is. I'm glad to have them as part of my life...and I also remind myself of that when cleaning chicken poo out of the sheeps' watertroughs.
