Midhill Ziek ... coming to Canada in 2011

It is a 'done deal' ... and I am soooo excited! Deposit has been paid and transport arranged. Midhill Ziek will come to Canada in the New Year ... :-).

His dam Chauauqua Dulcie ...

and his sire is SGF Sant Yukon.

We are very excited to have purchased this boy and to use him as our primary herd sire next year as we begin to breed for a herd that is A2/A2, and polled.

Life is good!

I really like his sire! May Ziek turn out just as nice.

Congrats! He is handsome. Are horns a recessive trait in cattle?

Yes Rich. So half of this guys offspring should be polled as well. I'd like to develop a fully polled line, but some folks like horned ... so this way I can get both. With sheep, I got a lot of scurs and abherant horns as I worked towards polled rams. With Dexters it is simpler ... if an animal has horns, it is not polled, nor does it carry genetics for polled. If an animal IS polled, then 50% of the offspring should be polled and the other 50% horned. No half pools or poll carriers to think about!

For me, the biggest thing with this dude, is his A2/A2 status. As I move toward producing 'family milking cows', I think this will become more and more important.

What a beautiful family! Hope Doug is still around, too!
